Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 11, 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to all products and services operated by TaraPixel, including TARA Price Watch (our standalone web app at pricewatch.tarapixel.ca) and Rival, our competitor price-tracking app for Shopify. Wherever this policy refers to “we,” “us,” or “TaraPixel,” it covers both. A dedicated section below (“Shopify App (Rival)”) explains how we handle data and Shopify’s mandatory GDPR requests for merchants who install Rival from the Shopify App Store.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to run your price-monitoring account:

  • Name — so we can address you and personalize your account.
  • Email address — for sign-in, alerts, and account notices.
  • Store name — to identify your business within TaraPixel.
  • Competitor URLs — the product pages you ask us to monitor.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide the service: monitoring the competitor URLs you submit, sending you price-drop alerts, maintaining your price history, and communicating important account or billing information.

3. We Never Sell Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Ever. Your data is used solely to operate and improve TaraPixel for you.

4. Telegram Chat ID

If you connect Telegram to receive alerts, we store your Telegram chat ID securely. It is used only to deliver the price alerts you have requested and is never shared with third parties or used for any other purpose.

5. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data and limit access to it.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information and monitoring data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting us.

7. Shopify App (Rival)

Rival is our competitor price-tracking app available on the Shopify App Store. This section describes how we handle data for merchants who install Rival, in addition to everything described above.

What we access from your Shopify store

When you install Rival, Shopify provides us with your store domain (for example, your-store.myshopify.com) and an access token so the app can run inside your Shopify admin. We request read-only access. Rival never modifies your products, orders, customers, or store settings, and it does not collect, store, or process your customers’ personal information. The data Rival works with is the same as our standalone app: your store name, the competitor product URLs you choose to track, and the resulting price history.

Uninstalling Rival

When you uninstall Rival, Shopify notifies us via the app/uninstalled webhook. We immediately revoke and delete the access token associated with your store so we can no longer connect to it.

GDPR / mandatory data requests

As required by Shopify and applicable data-protection laws (including the GDPR), we support Shopify’s mandatory compliance webhooks. Each request is verified using Shopify’s HMAC signature before we act on it:

  • Customer data request (customers/data_request) — if a shopper asks a merchant for the data we hold about them, we respond. Because Rival tracks competitor pricing and does not collect or store any of a merchant’s customers’ personal data, we hold no such customer information to provide.
  • Customer redact (customers/redact) — a request to delete a specific customer’s data. As noted above, Rival stores no customer personal data, so there is no customer record to erase.
  • Shop redact (shop/redact) — sent by Shopify 48 hours after a store uninstalls Rival. On this request we delete the store’s data associated with the app, including the access token, tracked competitor URLs, and related price history.

You can also contact us at any time to request access to, or deletion of, the data we hold for your store.
